Celebrating Father’s Day with your supporters

6 June 2024

Father's Day can be a difficult time for so many people if they're bereaved or missing a loved one.  We know you want to offer the families you work with all the help you can, and build relationships with them, but how do you do that?

Below, we offer some suggestions for how you can connect with your current and prospective supporters on Father’s Day and other special days throughout the year.

Use our new virtual gifts to enhance your campaigns

MuchLoved’s virtual gifts are available throughout the year with a choice of beautiful images to leave on a tribute as gifts.  Our charity partners also get access to additional virtual gift choices on special dates, including Easter, Summer holidays and Mothering Sunday.  Our Father’s Day gifts are now available, other release dates are available here.

Virtual gifts can provide a special way for supporters to continue the bond with a loved one, and for you to show you care. Here are a few ideas for using virtual gifts as part of your campaign:

  • Leave gifts on tributes to show your tribute owner that you are thinking of them.
  • Invite your donors and tribute owners to re-visit the tribute and add a new gift of their choice.
  • Check in with your supporters. Virtual gifts are a part of bereavement care, allowing the family to maintain a connection with their loved one.
  • Encourage all ages to get involved in gifting! Giving gifts helps the extended family, especially children, do something meaningful and special in honour of the person who has died.

Create a dedication page as a place for your supporters to remember their loved ones

MuchLoved charity partners all have access to our dedication page service, which offers flexible, standalone campaign and fundraising pages where your supporters can add a photo, a message and (optionally) a donation.

Dedication pages are an easy and quick way to offer support and help raise vital funds at the same time.  They can be used for everything from a Light Up a Life Campaign to a Santa Dash and are perfect for special days like Father’s Day and Mothering Sunday.  Dedication pages can be a key part of your in-memory stewardship plans, at low risk and low cost. Plan a social media campaign to connect with supporters

Think about using your social media channels to promote your tribute fund scheme or dedication page campaign for Father’s Day.  Creative use of social media can be a fantastic way to connect with your supporters.  Here are some ideas:

  • Promote your tribute pages as a special place for supporters to remember their loved one and celebrate their life.  Emphasise that pages are free of charge, and theirs to keep indefinitely.
  • Share all the ways that a page can help families and offer your support to create and personalise a page with photos, stories, videos and music.
  • Share the impact of your in-memory fundraising.  Have you been able to buy a new piece of equipment, or employ new staff?  Seeing tangible results may encourage new and existing supporters to set up a tribute page or leave a donation with their dedication.
  • For MuchLoved partners, we have a selection of Father's Day images on the Charity Support Site to which can be used with you social posts.
